durhamlane’s outsourced expertise does IT for Sunderland Software City

The outsourced expertise of fast growing Newcastle sales performance firm durhamlane is set to continue to drive growth for the clients of an organisation helping to develop North East England’s software industry.

The Windsor Terrace-based firm will continue to help start-up and incubator clients of Sunderland Software City (SSC) after agreeing an extension to its intelligence services’ contract.

The move sees durhamlane continuing to provide a package of outsourced market research, including competitor analysis and pricing strategy services, which SSC’s clients can tap into as they prepare to come to market or expand existing services and capabilities.

The service has already benefitted one of SSC’s clients, which is planning to launch its range of online crowd sourcing opinion services on the back of an industry analysis and intelligence report prepared by durhamlane.

This has confirmed the opportunities open to IT entrepreneur Steve Mitchell to press ahead with plans for his new venture www.rateandvote.com and secure the backing and funding from regional venture capitalists to take the business forward.

Steve Mitchell is one of several people supported by SSC who have already taken advantage of durhamlane’s outsourced intelligence service, which follows a programme of sales training provided by the firm specifically for software start-ups lacking the resources, finance and skills to identify and generate sales.

This latest success for durhamlane, which is targeting an extra £250,000 in turnover by summer 2015, comes on the back of several other recent client wins.

Billy Webber, business support manager at Sunderland Software City, said: “durhamlane has demonstrated a good understanding of the issues facing start-ups in the technology sector.

“The intelligence service delivers information that’s of real value to our clients, providing external expertise that start-ups can benefit from without the extensive and costly investment in time and resources that they would otherwise need to find.”

Richard Lane, who founded durhamlane in 2011 with fellow director Lee Durham, said he was delighted to continue to build on the long-term partnership with Sunderland Software City.

“We look forward to building our long-standing partnership with Sunderland Software City and its clients, who will continue to benefit from our help and expertise as they go for growth or realise their dreams of running their own businesses in highly competitive IT sectors.”

He added: “We are fast building a reputation for added value outsourced expertise, which utilises bespoke sales training and insightful market intelligence to provide clients with a very strong competitive edge.”
